How about you?
After going MIA for a good 4 years, I decided to bring this blog page back to life. There are so many stories that I wish I wrote when it happened, I was looking through the draft posts that I didn't finish, and it got me like - what the heck is this story about. And, when I was looking through all the other posts that I've posted ages ago, I can see that some people find it interesting or at least helpful. Therefore, here I am, sitting on my bed, typing away... I am back :)
In this blog, I want to talk about happiness. I think this is a fairly relatable topic. Everyone wants to be happy, no one here wants to be helpless/ sad, right?
Real-talk question tho, what do you think is happiness?
Some of us think that happiness is money/luxurious goods so they work hard to earn as much as they can and they feel happy - and there's nothing wrong with it. Some of us find happiness in traveling around the world so they do just exactly that. Some find joy/happiness in helping those who are in need. From this, we can see that happiness/joy came in different shapes and forms and it can be different for everybody.
There is one thing that is the same for everyone tho, the fact that happiness is the ultimate goal of everyone's action and it is the result that everyone is hoping for, and yet, your happiness is depending on the action that you can do or the result that you achieve.
For example, if you find joy in making a lot of money, your mindset will be somewhat along the line with "I will be happy if I am rich" or if you find joy in traveling around the world you would think that "I will be happy after I visit country X" and so on...
Now, my question is, can you be happy if you don't get what makes you happy? If you are thinking about the question that just asked or if your answer is "No", then it will be hard for you to feel happy, and it might also be hard for you to be thankful.
Why?
Because you are letting external factor controls your emotion and happiness. Your happiness shouldn't be a result of some measurement that you've put in place for yourself, it should be a decision that you make for yourself.
Let me put it in a perspective. Let's say you are swimming in a pool and you are holding your breath, you know that you need to take a breath at some point, do you let other people decide for you when to take your breath, or do you decide when you need to take a breath?
I'm sure all of us would say that we will take a breath when we need to take a breath. The same goes for happiness. You know your goal is to be happy in life, do you let other things control when can you feel happy or do you make the decision and say "I Choose Joy" or "I choose to be happy".
Choosing joy doesn't mean you are not working towards what can make you happy and just be happy with where you are and do nothing. Choosing joy means you know where you want to go, you know you are not there yet, but you choose to be happy instead of grumpy during the process.
Let's choose Joy. Let's give ourselves the right to be grateful for where we are at right now. You might not be where you want to be, you might not be who you want to be, or things might not progress as smoothly as you want it to be. But guess what, that is life. One second you're on the top of the world, the next minute you're in the deepest pit. So what? life will keep on throwing 1001 things at your face, but keep that smiley face on. Because today we choose Joy. 💓
It's not going to be easy, there will always be 10,000 reasons for us not to be happy, but guess what, if it's not challenging, where is the fun, right? 😉
I really hope this blog helps you in any way, and I hope it helps you realised that there will always be ups and downs in life, but just because you're at the bottom, doesn't mean you can't choose to be happy. If you have any suggestions/feedback, feel free to leave a comment below 😊.
Mkbye people, see on the next blog! Till then, stay awesome, and be happy - choose joy, and be happy!~
Inspiring story 👍🏽
